Some of the freshest looks coming for fall are mid to high wedge looks in shoes and boots. I will give you the full run down as we get into season. But just be on the look out for them as they appear.

At same time other far southern areas of Italy were awakening to the export market that was available in the USA. So we started to see copies of the original at much lower prices. That led to gains in the industry that were so dramatic as to eventually price out this country as whole as a resourcing power of inexpensive footwear.  Soon replaced by South America, then Korea, Taiwan, then the walls came down politically and socially and it is now China. Not to mention the growth in India. The uniqueness of the original product, the power of price, drive markets and industries. The next stop is the last continent. So watch for the competitive battle of price to transform this last destination of human resource. Be on the watch for new technology to take control of production you don’t have to feed, house, clothe, or pay a weekly check to the robot. Take away the creative

We may be seeing the prelude to an adjustment in buyer perceptions. When 80% of the footwear imported is imported into the USA from one country and that country is not recognized by specific regions as to quality differentials we get a muddled vision as to what is true value.  To clearly differentiate one product and it’s value from another there must be that simple understanding in the consumers mind as to what creates greater value. To say we have been through this before is an understatement. In the early sixties the thought of shoes made outside the USA would have been ridiculous but as an example there was a simple product that an American manufacturer started producing in Italy the Bass Sunjun sandal.  They sold for rather inexpensive price of around $20 but the quality was acceptable and consumers readily accepted them and bought.

The tribal trend has never been hotter than right now. Countless designers infused Spring/Summer 2010 clothes and accessories with African-inspired patterns and materials for a look we love.

Interior designers are in on the act as well, adding touches of exotic modernism to rooms in the form of African stools and masks, animal prints and more.
